Thematic Design Concept

The nature of the I*EARN Australia web site being a space where information and projects are accessed by people around the globe of many different cultures, religions, and language has led to a visual interface design broad enough to encompass this understanding. This is an attempt to avoid exclusion of any one individual.

In addition to this, the interface has been designed with colour and icon theories with the intention of making the site appealing to children and young people to encourage their participation.

The base visual metaphor encompasses the concept of coastlines, where the ocean meets the land. This links everyone around the globe in a geographical sense.

The detail one finds along a coastline is the concept behind the icons, such as shells, stones, fossils. The fossil designs are based on unique and original creatures, representative of the fresh voice of the worlds youth. Hopefully, highlighting the importance of their input for the future.

As the user navigates about the site, they are in a sense, fossiking about, uncovering and discovering hidden treats.
