Dear Mr. President:
I want to express my appreciation for your message. I am delighted that Argentina has joined the United States and other nations in the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program. I am also pleased to learn that we share the view that telecommunications can play an important role in the education of the world's young people.
GLOBE is a unique environmental science and education program, and I am confident that, in the years ahead, many more nations will join us in this important international endeavor. Ultimately, our joint efforts will enhance environmental awareness and contribute significantly to the scientific understanding of the Earth.
I have already communicated my personal congratulations of the signing of the GLOBE agreement to Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Guido Di Tella, and Minister of Culture and Education, Jorge Alberto Rodriquez.
I also have been pleased to learn of the work of Professor Maria Del Carmen Galloni of the University of Estudios E Investigaciones Ambientales who will serve as Country Coordinator of the GLOBE Program in Argentina.
I look forward to our continuing partnership in the GLOBE Program. Together we all can make a lasting difference for our planet.
