To The Honorable Mr. D. Hayward,
Minister of Education.

Sir,

On behalf of the students and teachers of ORT Israel, I am happy to welcome you on your visit to the Australian Center of The International Education and Resource Center.

Not long ago, ORT Israel made the decision to join I*EARN. We thought that telecommunications would allow us to enhance the work we do within our schools.

Today, ORT Israel is the home of the first educational telecommunications network in Israel. ORT is the only educational organization in the world allowing each and every student and teacher access at no or low cost. ORT Israel is a pioneer in education, an innovative organization. Today, we have a telecommunications edge. We are able to offer our students the benefit of testing their future workplace, while still at school.

All this could not have happened without the assistance of our friend Peter Copen and I*EARN. For they have helped us understand the power and the potential of the medium.

Yet, we have still a long way to go. The accessibility to the technology does not warrant that it would be put to good use in our schools. We need to provide solutions on various levels: Teacher training, Currircular reform, Teaching methods and many more.

We rely on I*EARN to be there with us in our pursuit for answers. The global concept of I*EARN is imortant to us, it is also the way we like to look at things.

On your visit with I*EARN Australia, I am confident that you will find the merits of the network that we are proud to be part of, worthwhile of any education system.

Have an an enjoyable visit.

Sincerely,
Israel Goralnik

Director General
ORT Israel
Network for Technological and Scientific Education
