http://www.organica.us/

A pretty cool site. Organica crawls weblogs and makes statistics on what's popular right now, related sites, who links to who, which tools are being used, webservers being used for weblogs and so on.

The Web Project

Simple yet effective communication has long been the promise of those that promote online collaborative learning.

In many cases, the promise is seldom realised, simply because the community that forms around any given topic, event or premise does not take the time, nor perhaps consider the lasting value, of properly organised 'rules of engagement' .

My own experience in the work of I*EARN provided valuable and profound insights in to the use of online collaborative technologies in supporting educational dialog.

The team at the 'Web Project' have some simple yet powerfully effective things to say about this. Their work on protocols or the 'free-flow method' is worth consideration by anyone planning effective use of online technologies in an education or training setting.

The nature of online discussion falls somewhere between the rules of spoken and written language. Ideas evolve depending upon the direction a discussion takes, yet the written format trains our eyes to find formalizations that don't yet exist.

The WEB Project is a consortium of community organizations, small businesses, and educational institutions that engage new technologies to affect systemic reform in school systems throughout Vermont. Housed in the Montpelier School District USA, the project utilizes multimedia production and telecommunications as an educational environment for student inquiry and expression, a medium for presenting and assessing student work, and a virtual faculty room for professional discussions about work.
